Fourth of July

This is going to be a lazy 'photo-dump' post of our fourth-of-July weekend out at my folk's cabin.  (... and the photos aren't even properly edited either.... oy).  There is lots I could say, I'm just too tired to do it tonight (but I'm afraid if I don't go ahead and do a post I won't get around to it ... ).  So a few highlights in no particular order:

  • we almost had to cancel our trip out because of a run in with some lice, which we found in the girls' hair Wednesday night.  Yeah.  Not fun.  Thursday was devoted completely to getting rid of them.  Fortunately, we were successful.  I'll say it again.  Not. Fun.  (and seriously, who gets lice in the SUMMER?!  It went through Millie's classroom at least half a dozen times during the school year and she never brought it home ...
  • my sister's family was supposed to join us Saturday for a little family fun and fireworks, unfortunately, Charlie came down with a virus and they weren't able to make it out.  It really was not a good weekend in terms of bugs...
  • Teddy loved everything about the cabin, from Sandy the dog to the boat to the beach to the fireworks.  He. Loved. It.
  • The girls had a great time swimming in the lake (even venturing out and swimming in the middle of the lake off of the boat!)
  • I appreciated Scott taking one for the team and swimming with them -- lake swimming just isn't my thing (though I was willing to try until he saved me :) ).
  • Merrill fell asleep during the fireworks (though she doesn't remember doing so).  She was lying in Scott's lap and he had to shake her awake several times.
  • Millie asked continuous, rapid-fire questions during the fireworks -- whew that girl is curious!
  • Teddy sat in awe of the fireworks and will tell you that they went "Bang!" if you ask him about them :)
  • The kids all went to sleep very well after fireworks, but despite the late bedtime, the girls were still up at 6:00 the next morning
  • The weather was fantastic -- an amazing break from St. Louis summer.  We didn't even turn the air on at the cabin.
  • As we were leaving, Teddy turned to Scott and said "I have fun at the tabin" -- he pretty much summed it up.  Hopefully we'll make it out there again before the summer is over!  How can summer be half-way over already!?!
Blurgh -- these didn't even come up in order ...  well, enjoy these randomly dumped photos of our weekend :)
