Yesterday I:
Went to the gym, made a trip to Costco and Trader Joe's (with kids in tow), fed the girls lunch, played with the girls, made a rather involved veggie lasagna for dinner (1 1/2-2 hours of prep work in the kitchen -- with frequent interruptions from little people....), and went outside with the girls to play before dinner.
I felt like "supermom."
That just tells you how UNproductive I was during my first trimester! I am very grateful that the nausea has passed and that my energy levels are coming back up. Though I'm not so sure Scott is happy about that because my need to clean and organize the house is in full swing resulting in lots more projects around the house. We may have started painting the basement last night ... and by "we", I mean Scott. I thought I would be able to handle painting, but the fumes were more overwhelming than I thought they would be (even with low VOC paint...). Plus Scott told me I couldn't paint in my "good" pajamas and I was too tired to change. Hey, I had a busy day! ;).

We had an artsy morning with Millie's dance class followed by another "Baby Got Bach" music workshop. It was a much busier morning/early afternoon than we usually have, but it was a lot of fun. The girls really enjoyed the music concert this time and even endured the long lines during the "backstage" portion of the program very well. Of course my camera battery was not fully charged, so I only got a few pictures of them interacting with the musicians this time. We got to interact with and listen to string instruments this time -- so fun! Scott was off to the Billikins game when we got home and the girls and I are enjoying a quiet afternoon at home coloring and playing. Not a bad start to the weekend.

{hearts}
The girls had fun making colorful heart-shaped crayons this week to give to Millie's classmates for Valentine's Day along with the Valentine's that they made.
permission to peel the paper off crayons?! Yes!! (we did learn that soaking the crayons in warm water first makes the process much easier -- most of the time)
practicing our knife skills
So pretty!

Parent-Child Night
We all had such a good time last night at Millie's school for
Parent-Child night. It's basically a child-led school open house where
the kids get to show their families some of the work they have been
doing at school, they sing a few songs and then serve their families a
snack they prepared earlier that day. Millie is always so proud when
she shows us around and demonstrates such confidence in everything she
does. This year she was also very considerate and picked out some work
that she thought Merrill would enjoy doing and very gently showed her
around the school and helped her participate in everything -- even the
songs! It was great to see and makes me feel good about Merrill
starting school there in the fall -- I know that Millie will really help
her and watch out for her. The girls will be starting school right
around the same time that Little Peep is born so it's bound to be a
crazy and potentially rough time for everyone. I'm comforted to know
that Merrill won't be transitioning to school on her own during all of
that. (and I'm praying Little Peep comes a couple of days early so I
don't have to miss Merrill's first day of school!)
| Millie picked the "dress-up" work for Merrill to do -- she got to explore some very cool Asian outfits! |
One of Millie's current favorite works: the movable alphabet
both girls really enjoyed the ice crushing work!

Remember this post from a little over a year ago: http://sr-squared.blogspot.com/2010/12/stages.html ? I meekly proclaimed the baby stage of my life over. Well....
Yep, baby #3 (a.k.a. Little Peep) is due to arrive around August 12.
(okay, the video was a little staged, but the girls really are excited ....)
More to come (thoughts on the baby, not babies!)
