Millie could not have been happier to get outside for a bit this afternoon. We finally had a break in the cold weather AND some sunshine AND no wind -- perfect conditions for a walk. We got to fully enjoy the benefits of living on a quiet dead-end street too. Millie had fun just walking up and down and we didn't have to worry about her falling in the snow :).
In other news, Millie had her 15-month check-up on Tuesday. She weighed in at 19 pounds 6 oz -- and that was fully clothed with a very wet diaper on.... Now that Millie stands so well, the nurses often opt to weigh her on the "big person" scale, which is fine, but when she is fully clothed the numbers are a little misleading. At this point in her life, ounces still count. I'm guessing she's closer to 19 pounds even. Either way we're still below that magical 20 pound mark when we'll be able to turn her around in her car seat -- maybe by 18 months! Her weight put her in the 8th percentile (again, I think it's a little lower, she's been pretty consistently in the 4-5th percentile...), and her height (29 1/2 inches) put her in the 25th percentile. All around, I'd say she is just perfect :D.
She did well for Dr. Moore and showed off her tummy, nose and eyes. She didn't show off her talking skills too much -- she generally saves the chatter for home -- but she's right on track with that too. In fact, Scott noted just today that she seems to be adding a new word everyday. Today it's "napkin." She handled her toe prick to check her iron levels well, and only gave a brief squeal when she got her shot. She's definitely learned that she gets shots at the Dr.'s office -- she was very hesitant to go back to the exam room and tensed up when she saw the nurse coming at her with the needle. Not like the early days when she was so relaxed she didn't even know the shot happened!
Our little baby bun (what I've taken to calling baby #2 in my head...) is doing well too. I had an appointment a week before Millie's and all seems to be fine. Millie got to listen to the heartbeat with me, so that was fun. Next time in will be the ultrasound. We have decided to not find out what the sex is (we didn't find out with Millie either), but it will be wonderful to finally "meet" the little one. At 18 weeks, I'm feeling good. Mondays are tough -- they leave me very tired -- hard to adjust back to workweek hours after our nice leisurely weekends. Though lately Millie hasn't been into sleeping in, so I actually get about the same amount of sleep at night. But, on the weekends I can usually snag at least one nap :).
Beyond the babies, life in Connecticut is plugging along. We are very ready for spring, but Puxatawny Phil says we have to wait 6 more weeks. Sigh. We are VERY excited about our visit from LoLo which is coming up in a week and a half. I have the week off from school and Millie has the week off from daycare. It will be SO nice to "just" be a mom for a week and really get to spend time with Millie -- and to share that time with my sister. We are so glad she was able to plan the trip out. Scott is busy with work, which these days is something to be thankful for. Unfortunately, he does not get the week off... But, we will all be taking a trip to St. Louis in April for a week for my Spring Break and are looking forward to that.
For now, we're just enjoying our quiet weekend at home :).
