Weekend Fun

We had another busy weekend this past week.  It started off with a diagnosis of pink eye for Merrill Friday afternoon.  THAT was not on the original agenda ... but we worked around it.  Millie, Teddy and I met my sister and Peyton at my parent's house Friday night to set up for Brandon and Mary's wedding shower.  Poor Scott had to skip a Cardinals game with all the guys to stay home with a still contagious Merrill.  Saturday morning brought gymnastics for Scott and Millie, time for me to put last minute details on the cake for the shower, and playtime with Merrill and Teddy.  Saturday afternoon was the main event -- the shower at my parents'.  The girls stayed home with a babysitter and Scott, Teddy and I enjoyed some wine and cheese and lots of good company.  Okay, only Scott enjoyed the wine...

The set up at the shower -- the "red" table was in the dining room and the "white" table was in the kitchen.  Each held three varieties of wine (reds: Malbec, Cabernet Savingion, and  Shiraz; whites: Torrentes, Champagne, and Savingion Blanc) and lots of possible pairings.

A toast to the happy couple

Playing the "Newlywed" game -- they did really well!  Though Mary did come out ahead by two points :)

And then we ate cake...

This is just a random, not particularly flattering picture that made me laugh.  I have no idea what Lauren and I were talking about, but boy, can you tell we are sisters?!  (despite our strikingly different coloring...)

Everyone got a little Teddy time :)

Gifts

A parting gift for Brandon and Mary

Sunday brought a pretty quiet morning with a trip to the grocery store for Scott and Merrill and a quick mix up of frosting and cake decorating for a friend's birthday (yeah, we've been dealing with a lot of cake around here!) for Millie and me.  I headed to book club in the afternoon after getting Merrill a nap.  After book club and dinner we walked to the girls' school for their first ice cream social.  The ice cream truck was a vintage fire truck -- so cool!

It was a great weekend and we were all tired out by the end!
