Millie's Big Adventure

Millie had a big day yesterday (Wednesday, November 21). Dad took the day off as a floating holiday and we went out for the day as a family. Millie made her first trip to the mall, ate at Ruby Tuesday with mom and dad, went to Target and cut down her first Christmas tree. Scott and I started our tradition of cutting down our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving 2 years ago when we were in our house in Monroe. We broke tradition slightly this year and went the day before Thanksgiving due to the fact that it was looking to be the better day in terms of weather. It wasn't a beautiful day, but it wasn't overly cold and that made it easier to take Millie along for the ride. Millie was a trooper through the whole day. She rode along in the sling with mommy through all the shopping and tree cutting with minimal fussing. She actually slept through most of the mall and Target, and didn't really fuss until we got to the tree farm. By this point I think she was just really tired from all the activity, getting in and out of the sling and car, etc. She was contented with a snack and didn't really get upset until we got in the car to go home.

Once we were in the car and headed home, Millie let us know that she wasn't happy with us. We drove for about 5 minutes before Scott pulled over and I got Millie out of the car seat for some snuggle time. After a couple of minutes she seemed to forgive us and was able to sit through the rest of the car ride home. She was tired the rest of the afternoon/evening and wanted to stay in motion, but all in all it was a successful day out. Actually, mom and dad were pretty tired too -- we haven't had that much activity all in one day in almost a month!

So, we have our tree. A nice White Fir. Daddy did a good job cutting it down despite the wetness. We'll bring the tree in the house tomorrow and then probably start decorating once December is here. It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is here and November is almost over. This month has flown by -- despite the fact that our days have been pretty quiet and event-free. Must have something to do with this baby we have now :).
