Christmas day not only did we have our traditional Ross-family brunch, presents and dinner, but in-between all of that we made and decorated our traditional Christmas cookies. This is another tradition that has been happening the same way for at least 25 years -- I think it started after we moved to St. Louis (at least in this form), but it might have been around in Morton too. My dad still makes the cookie dough (same recipe), rolls it out and cuts the shapes, my mom does the ferrying of cookie sheets in and out of the oven, to the cooling rack and finally to the kitchen table to be decorated and the "kids" take care of the decorating. Brandon still likes to pile on the frosting, Christian still likes to be artistic in his creations, all of the "out-laws" have been trained and hazed in the past years and are now seasoned pros, and now the girls are getting their turn to be a part of it all. They quickly picked up on the "you break it, you eat it" rule :).

Millie's first cookie that she made all by herself. Of course when she picked it up, the arm broke off ...
Merrill enjoyed putting the candies on the cookies before they went in the oven -- she had a very generous hand!
the dangers of using excessive frosting :)
