While we had a lot of fun playing at home with Grandma and Papa on Saturday afternoon, we were all ready for an outing by Sunday afternoon. So, after lunch and naps, we drove out to Glencoe and found this small gem (and by found, I mean my dad read about it and sent us a link to the website...thanks, dad!):
You can read about this miniature train line here -- it has been operating at this location since 1961 after being moved here from an estate near the airport. The original location was established in 1939. This was a real train enthusiast's dream come true! It was fun for all of us too ;). The train ran on a mile track through a wooded area along the Meramec river and was located in a St. Louis County park/Greenway area. We enjoyed the half-hour round-trip ride and learning a little bit more about how trains operate.

Teddy was the least appreciative of our seats. He asked to get off the train several times during the first half of the ride
Fortunately, the track was not circular and they actually removed the engine, drove it on a parallel track and then reattached it at the other end ... so for the return trip we were at the back of the train. Teddy found this much more acceptable.
After our train trip, we headed back to downtown Kirkwood where we enjoyed a nice dinner out followed by custard at the Custard Station
